Pantofibre

Founded by Amberto, Antonio, & Amedeo Nenciarini

Pantofibre is a family-founded and family-owned company based in Montemurlo, Prato, just outside of Florence, Italy. Currently operated by Benedetta and Lorenzo Nenciarini, the company carries on a centuries-old tradition of recovering textiles from industrial waste, factory off-cuts, and discarded clothing, and has been doing so since 1963. Continuing the practice of the cenciaioli — artisans trained in the historic art of sorting textiles by hand based on color and material — Panofibre transforms material once considered waste into recycled yarns, fibers, and raw materials.

The company is part of an important initiative, Nei Nostri Panni, which invests in the training, mentorship, and development of young people and vulnerable migrants to learn the craft of the cenciaioli and become an integral part of Prato's economy. This social impact project encourages collaboration between brands and factories to maintain the circular practices of the region, a connection that eventually led to the partnership between Rifò and Pantofibre.

The company holds a variety of certifications, including the Recycled Wool Standard, Global Recycled Standard, and Textile Exchange Guarantee.
